As per usual, I was a grumpy prego right up til the end.
And there were a few ailments symptoms that had either lessened or that I hoped I had completely avoided- which all reared their ugly heads eventually.
RLS- Usually at night, and especially if I got woken up after falling asleep once.
Baby Hiccups- ALL my babies got chronic hiccups in the womb; and at the end, this girl was no different. They are always cute and slightly annoying.
Hard Kicks- This baby’s movements and kicks actually hurt pretty badly near the end.
Leg Cramps- My leg cramps mutated. They didn’t like that I knew how to quickly ward them off by jumping out of bed and straightening my leg, so they migrated to my thigh and behind my knee where they couldn’t be touched. I kept a tube of Painatrate (Icy Hot) by my bed for this very reason. But at any given time, my leg muscles felt tight and likely to cramp up, even during the day. In fact, my legs seemed to become a major issue this pregnancy. Which brings me to my next point:
Shin Splints- So frustrating that though I had the endurance to run (with a little pain) and exercise, I was held back by my excruciating shin splint pain that felt like my muscles were going to rip through my legs after jogging for longer than a minute.
Heart Palps- These things freak me out. Especially when they are one on top of another. Can’t be normal.
Sciatica- Don’t know how many times I nearly fell over when a sharp, tingly, numbing pain shot down one side of my leg. I imagine I was hilarious to watch. The worst part was that it was NEVER LABOR RELATED.
Lower Back Pain/Contractions- Don’t remember feeling these types of pains nearly as much with the others.
Grease- Throwing up my food grease became a nightly occurrence again.
Insomnia- Not too bad this pregnancy due to serious fatigue.
Pink Sobes- My random craving the whole last trimester.
Pelvic/ Tailbone Pain- AKA the waddle makers
Edema- Even though in extreme heat I’d noticed slightly swollen ankles with other pregnancies, I always counted my blessings that I never experienced true edema. Until this baby when my feet and ankles ballooned up so much the last few weekends I could barely stand up and wanted badly to try to pop the things with a needle!! They were so huge it was comical.
Heartburn- Nothing too serious
Ligament pain- Miserable and once again, NOT LABOR RELATED.
Ab dislocation- Never heard of it? Neither has anyone else. All I know is sometimes my top muscle moves up too high and I am miserable until I can pop it back into place. Happens whether prego or not.
Eye twitch- Probably not related but I thought I’d just throw it out there.
All in all, I must say this pregnancy was actually a little more mild/ less miserable than some of my others.
But that doesn’t mean I liked it!
So, our Spring Mission was to distract me from all these symptoms with things like . . .
Losing more teeth!
Baseball
Him: Homerun almost every game, made lots of outs, asked to join All Stars (in order to preserve some of his childhood, we politely declined).
Her: Hits almost every time she got up, which was impressive since she was the youngest one and had to learn machine pitch! Very shy.
Field Trips
Little photographers taking pictures of um, a little more cross dressing.
(I know, now it’s just becoming disturbing, especially when he tells me he’s a princess)
Haha, he really wanted to be Aurora and C kept saying it was just too itchy. When he begged and begged she finally admitted that one was just too special to have him wear it!
I know I look disgusting in this picture taken by one of the kids, but the important thing is that I am wearing my favorite jammies in the world!!! (I have 3 pair)
Two little tiny yard projects
(which I watched with my swollen feet up)
1
2
Tennessean Visitors for Mother’s Day (which would have been the PERFECT time to go into labor, I’m just sayin)
Multiplying Cousins at City Creek
Lagoon!
Dance Recital
