When we went in for the 1 year check up, she was not walking, though she could stand, bend over to pick things up, etc.
Closest words to talking were: chanting “Jocelynn,” “tickle, tickle,” whispering “soff” (soft) “Dad- da” (though unknowingly) “biper” (diaper), “dink” and if you were thrown in the air, someone else could say “One, two,” and you would say “yee!”
Quickly following came “banky,” “bimpee” “yah” “owee” “K” “shocks” (socks) “weesh” (shoes) “Hi” (while waving at passing by cars), “more” “dank you” “nana” (banana), “eye” “baby” “uh-oh” “whee” and “whoa.
She loved wearing things around her neck, like a beautiful scarf. (blankets, underwear, necklaces, toys, socks, anything!)”
LOVED dancing!!!
Loved socks, blankets “banky” (turned anything into a blanket) and toothbrushes. AND her dang binky “bimpee.” Obsessed with the latter, actually.
The cuddliest baby on earth. Uncles and friends that she took a major liking to (Dan, Dusty and Kenny) described her as “melting” into your arms. Cuddled when she got up from naps, when tired for a nap, sad, hurt, embarassed, etc.
Also snuggled if she had her “bimpee” or “bankee.”
Loved showing her belly.
Loved vitamins, hated medicine.
Took her official steps around 13 or so months.
Learns everything soooo fast!
Picked up “doggy” from being shown Maggie one time, and loved to make a barking sound.
LOVED all animals and called them “goggies.”
Learned “ball” after being told once.
Learned to blow her nose very early . . . and then unlearned and now blows with her mouth.
Loved all the rides at Disneyland and would watch intently, even when exhausted.
LOVED eating! The doc asked about her eating schedule and I told him it was ALL DAY! Loved squeeze baby foods, fruits (especially bananas and apples) yogurt, cheerios, oatmeal, sandwiches/ bread (any kind) French fries, most table food, Almond milk, water, juices. Never choked either because she’d had teeth for so long, she was a champ at chewing.
Loved remotes, phones, keys, computers, etc.
shook head “no” “get down” ran into walls
Stomped around shortly after learning to walk.
Hated diaper changes but could grab a diaper for me.
ADORED sleep. I thought we would never shake nap number 2, even though she woke up at 9 or 10. She could barely be up for more than an hour or two before she was exhausted. And she never fought sleep or naps, no matter what time I put her down. And it was never the same time twice. She was often ready for bed by 7 or so.
Such a good, dream baby! We would sometimes wonder when she became the perfect baby and then realized she always had been. What a joyous blessing she has been to us. And she is so beloved by all!!
